  • Before I took over, my bedroom was my brother’s room. When I took possession, it was dark and dirty. I had pretty much no money to makeover the space, as well as no permission to change any fixed elements such as carpeting, but I must admit I am pretty happy with the end result! Check it out for yourself below and let me know what you think! (I apologize that I have no before pictures for you to see).

The colour scheme: A contemporary neutral in a greyish blue, with a pop of hot pink as the accent

A couple of pics of the overall layout of the room

My bed: Yes a twin! The room is screaming for a bigger bed, but the nightstand, bed and tv stand were my bedroom set from childhood, and right now are the most economical option. Plus, the bed has storage drawers underneath with a shelf headboard…and its super comfy too.

Bedding: Top right corner shows that the reversibility of the comforter, white with blue flowers or vice versa. Since my walls are blue I like the white side up
    -Comforter and sheet set: Zellers
-Hot pink pillow: Homesense (Ralph Lauren) $35
    > also double as a great seating cushion when I have friends over

My TV area: As I mentioned, part of my childhood matchy-matchy bedset, with my ancient little 13” tv. The little door hosts my dvd collection.

Mirror: A beautiful cherry wood hand-me-down from my mom, and I love it!

-An old Bols Ballerina gold liqueur bottle from my grandma, empty unfortunately. You wind up the bottom and music plays as the ballerina dances.
-I keep my purses in the woven basket by my door so they are tucked away yet convenient to grab as I run out the door. Inside is a little Coach change purse, a Roots satchel, and a Coach hand bag.

    My Little Dressing Nook:
Clothes and makeup and hair and beauty happen here, and I have this glamorous print of the classic Audrey Hepburn there to act as inspiration everyday, which I acquired from a street vendor in NYC. I hang my clutches on my closet door handle because they are delicate and lovely. The necklaces are hung on a key holder from Home Hardware, and I did the flower painting above myself.

Audrey Hepburn prints: A christmas gift, I like the way the roses on the picture on the left pick up the rose detail on my vase.

Desk: Homehardware. The one drawer forces me to keep my files organized.

Chair: A Goodwill store find, purchased for 8$. It was an ugly, worn out brown with a hard leather seat cushion. I freshened it up with a coat of white and some new padding and fabric (a screen print by Mill Creek Fabrics).

Antique dresser: From my grandmother’s basement. I changed the knobs to a white ceramic with a tiny blue flower detail.
My perfumes sit on a silver tray given to me by my mom.
My Sigma makeup brushes sit in the same glass jar as my markers on my desk (jars purchased at Dollarama).
My jewellery finds its home in this ceramic bowl made in Taiwan and purchased at an antique shop near my house (10$).
Curtains: Giant Tiger (15$ per set).

Well there it is! I hope this entry wasn’t too long and that you like the room! Feedback and Followers welcome :)
    Love always,
    Tiffany Leigh
